County Board October 2026 Town Hall and BVSCA Membership Meeting Conflict
We have a date conflict with our regular October meeting and a County Board Townhall on October 26. In our July meeting, we will discuss options for changing the date for our regular October meeting (perhaps the week of October 19 or later in the week of October 26).
PUDOs: Pick-Up/Drop-Offs, Deliveries and Building Operations
Our neighbors in the North Rosslyn Civic Association (NRCA) (an initiative led by the North Rosslyn Civic Association (NRCA) are spearheading an effort around PUDOs that we will discuss.
What is a PUDO?
The term might be new, but PUDOs (Pick-Up/Drop-Offs) will be familiar to our residents, especially with new site plans the growth in curbside activity that blocks streets and bike lanes. Our friends at the North Rosslyn Civic Association (NRCA) are looking to see changes to Arlington’s current Site Plan 4.1 standards which were largely developed before the emergence of ride-sharing services, food delivery platforms, e-commerce, package delivery systems, and other on-demand transportation services that now shape how residents live and interact with buildings. At the July meeting we will have a discussion on PUDOs and NRCA’s position paper (see linked PDF) – and ways that we could contribute.
Snow, Trash, Trees
On July 21, the County Manager gave an update on the County’s plans for future snow events. We understand that there will be more community outreach in the next months. BVSCA shared a presentation with the County Board and the County Manager in advance of the County Manager’s presentation. We also want to explore interest in a new Snow Buddy volunteer snow removal program being conceived.
New Child Care Facility Use Permit Request: 927 N Quincy
The County is conducting a new use permit review for 927 N Quincy St to permit a child care facility. For more information: PublicAccess – CustomQuery Template.
New Live Entertainment Use Permit Request: Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel
A new request for live entertainment at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel, as described in the attached materials. The application is scheduled to be heard by the County Board on September 19, 2026.

$1.65M for sidewalk improvements to 13th Street N. from N. Quincy to N. Lincoln streets in Virginia Square
As recommended by the Neighborhood Complete Streets Commission, the County Board approved for funding for $1.65 million for improvements to 13th Street N. from N. Quincy to N. Lincoln streets in Virginia Square, constructing a sidewalk, accessible curb ramps and curb-and-gutter where the existing sidewalk is not accessible due to obstructions. We had a May briefing on this by staff and a commissioner – and will continue to monitor, especially as easements for sidewalk expansion are planned (if possible).
