This month’s meeting will feature a presentation and discussion on how to manage tree pits and how to manage site plan projects and their impact on tree canopy by Vincent Verweij, Urban Forest Manager, Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as regular business and committee planning.

Community Discussion (~ 30 – 45 mins)

Arlington County Tree programs update and neighborhood tree issue discussion

Vincent Verweij, Urban Forest Manager, Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation will give a brief presentation about the County’s tree programs. He will then lead a discussion with attendees and address issues raised by the membership, potentially including tree pits and the tree canopy.

Treasurer’s Report

Our Treasurer, Giang Dang, will give us a brief on our financial situation and membership numbers.

Ballston BID

Our representative to Ballston Bid, Allyson Ugarte, will share news from Ballston BID.

The Ballston BID recently submitted a letter to the County Board encouraging them to apply for the NVTC grant in order to secure more funding for the planned Ballston Metro West Entrance. View the letter here (PDF).

Arlington Civic Federation (CivFed)

Hear the latest news from BVSCA’s representatives to CivFed, Sharon Valencia, Adam Theo, and Nick Klissas.

Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee (NCAC)

We are still seeking a member or members who wish to be BVSCA’s representative to NCAC. This is a great way to get more involved with a limited, once-monthly time commitment. If you are interested or for more information, please reach out to info@ballstoncivic.org.

Adam Theo and Jim Rosen will provide an update on the activities of the Lubber Run and Spout Run Stormwater Working Groups.

Noisy restaurant / bar Issues

Jim Rosen will brief members on joint civic association action to address excessive noise from nearby bars and restaurants.
